Behaviour Management

At ADT, we view behavior not as non-compliance but as a form of communication and a reflection of barriers or challenges in the connection. We see behaviour as a window into a child’s underlying struggles. Instead of addressing only the visible tip of the iceberg through compliance training or methods instilled through fear, we seek to understand the root causes of the behaviour.
Is the child using behavior to communicate something they cannot express with words? Are they experiencing cognitive overload due to our expectations? Is the child struggling to connect with themselves, their environment, or others in appropriate ways? These are the questions we aim to answer.
We employ respectful strategies that empower children to manage and regulate their emotions and communicate using appropriate coping skills. Our approach avoids making children feel helpless or powerless by relying on methods that do not respect their dignity.
To achieve this, we invest significant time understanding the child’s environment, family dynamics, school context, and other systems involved. We listen to parents and caregivers to gain deeper insights into the child’s world and build therapeutic, positive relationships. The child’s readiness and well-being remain at the center of our behavior management strategies, ensuring a respectful and empowering experience for every child.
